In the end, Spike becomes the tiger-striped cat from the story he told Jet, in which he didn’t come back to life after Julia was killed. He painfully lifts his arm, makes a gun with his fingers, and says “Bang” before collapsing onto the ground. In the final scene, Spike is seen walking slowly down the stairs to the remaining members of the syndicate. Vicious collapses immediately from the gun shot. Spike and Vicious slide the weapons back to each other, and they each take one final blow. They battle it out, but Spike’s gun and Vicious’ sword are knocked out of their hands toward the other. Spike then enters Vicious liar, where Vicious is waiting for him. Before dying, he reveals to Spike that he was waiting for him to return and take over. He again meets Shin who helps him get to the elevators, but he is then shot and killed. What ensues is an epic battle between Spike and the syndicate, in order for him to get to Vicious. Spike then goes blasting off to face Vicious for the last time and winds up in the Red Dragon headquarters once again. But he finally reveals something personal to her: his right eye is fake because he lost it in an accident, and one eye sees the present, while the other sees the past. She also yells at him for being a hypocrite, for living in the past and being tethered to it. Spike also runs into Faye who asks him why he has to leave, because she is the only family she knows and has. Jet feeds him and they say their goodbyes, before Spike goes to leave again. ![]() However, he awakens in the middle of the night to find Spike sitting and asking Jet if there is any food, just like old times. Unsatisfied with the news, he returns to the Bebop and falls asleep. Jet then goes off to Old Man Bull and asks him to help find Spike, but Old Man Bull essentially tells him that Spike’s guardian star is about to go out. He then asks Faye what Julia is like, where she tells him that she is ordinary, but a, “dangerous, beautiful ordinary.” Jet seems to understand and he continues absent mindedly trying to fix the Bebop. Faye wants to know why Jet isn’t going after him and Jet replies angrily saying that he asked him to leave because he’s trouble. She whispers, “It’s all a dream,” to him before she closes her eyes for the final time.īack on the Bebop, Jet and Faye get into an argument over Spike. Spike rushes over to her and holds her, but he can do little for her. Julia and Spike manage to get onto the roof, trying to escape, but Julia is suddenly struck in the back with a bullet and falls onto the ground. He then tells Annie that he’s sorry because he’s going to make a scene, and then the shooting erupts. Julia knows he cannot leave either, and she tells him that she will stay with him until the end. Spike realizes he cannot leave and goes to get artillery from the back. ![]() Spike and Julia find out that Vicious had succeeded in his coup attempt and is now after them to finish what he began. Spike manages to convince Julia to go away with him, and they head to Annie’s.Īs they reach her shop, they find her clutching her stomach because she had been shot. She then drops the gun to her side, and she and Spike embrace for the first time in ages. They have a touching and revealing moment in the cemetery, where Julia asks Spike why he loved her.
